Page 2: Crinoids Found
The two guys on the previous page were ginning because they had just found a beautiful calyx of the crinoid Ectenocrinus simplex.
Here's another specimen of
Ectenocrinus
simplex found that day.
But perhaps the best find of the day, was this fantastic Cincinnaticrinus
varibrachialus with a really long stem and arms that are
almost never found with the calyx (cup)! Nice going! (shown below with an
enlargement in the red box.
Several other crinoid heads were found on rock surfaces. Both
of the crinoids pictured below are interesting because they look like some of
the less common crinoid genera. The second specimen pictures below is missing
the cup entirely and you can only see the arms.
