How Trilobites Enroll

Flexicalymene, as well as many other genera of trilobite, can bend in a way that allows them to curl up into a ball. It is thought that the "enrolled" position protected them from preditors and storms. Many Flexicalymene fossils are found in various stages of enrollment. Perhaps this suggests the trilobite was very comfortable in these positions.
